Scotty: Is your last name Derolo because you're coming out with guns blazing, my guy.

Scotty: Oh yeah, yeah, it was a good scaling. Yeah, good falsetto.
zuuuuu: Yeah, I was catching up with y 'all's episode that you did, recapping seasons one and two for the listeners that haven't caught that yet.
Jeff Randle: I love it.
Jeff Randle: So much.
zuuuuu: And I was like, Ooh, I gotta try it. I gotta try it this time.
Jeff Randle: Yep, yep. That, oh man, I look back on that episode that we did as, but like fondly, chaos. Chaos, chaotic, chaotic.
Jeff Randle: It's chaotic neutral, right?
Scotty: Yeah, just like Vox Machina, yeah.
zuuuuu: Sure.
Jeff Randle: Right. Now that, that was, that was a fun conversation that took so freaking many turns, you know, like the campaign did. But I'm just.
zuuuuu: So I'm doing my first, like I've i've basically binged all of season two in the last week or so, texting Jeff during and after every episode.
Jeff Randle: Zeus corner.
zuuuuu: And I do have to say that I have listened to the song for Aziza every day since I heard it for the first time. because it was just so incredible and so beautiful and I was like why is it so short I need a longer version of the song right now so just to kick things off oh my god are the scores and the music and the intensity and all that stuff just so incredibly done especially when they bring the metal out oh my god does it get my adrenaline pumping like I'm ready to go work out to just have with the stuff that Fox Fox plays
Jeff Randle: Yup.
Scotty: Well, speaking of which, since we're talking about season three now, this is the first time across the ah ah seasons that we've got so far that we have a new intro and I love the new intro and you talking about like introducing some of that metal and kind of that electric guitar. I love the buildup. It's just a perfect intro. You start, you start with these kind of like soft, quiet, quieter moments and melodies. And then it just builds up to like, you know, full adrenaline, bad -ass scene, Grog come slamming in the whole team working together. It's, it's a hell of an intro. I really dig it.
Jeff Randle: Hell of an intro?
Scotty: Ooh.
zuuuuu: Yeah, when it started off, I was like, oh, new intro, why is it softer? Why are we going this way? Okay, yeah, no, this is good.
Jeff Randle: yeah Yeah.
Scotty: and
zuuuuu: What am I talking about? Shut up, Zoom.
Jeff Randle: I mean, it's no pull on my beads of love, but what can be?
Scotty: well I know I know it said it since we're talking about season three, but while we are still kind of in zoos corner territory, I am curious since I, we have not, you know, communicated after you watched every episode. I know Jeff's favorite character. I know my favorite characters, but I'm curious, uh, who are, who's your favorite character or who are some of your favorites? Because I know it's, it's a difficult choice with this, uh, great cast.
zuuuuu: All right, so this is where I get stuck a little bit and I'm getting the twins mixed up already.
Scotty: Okay.
zuuuuu: Which one's the guide to it?
Scotty: Vex is the sister, Vax is the brother.
Jeff Randle: That makes sense.
Scotty: I finally got it figured out.
zuuuuu: Okay, so Vax is the type of character I would strive to be. He is the broody leader. He's the one that has to like drop everything to go do shit that he doesn't want to do.
zuuuuu: He's got daggers and he's super fast. Like everything about him is just like really cool.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: Plus, I can't not hear Gaara whenever he talks because that was the voice of him.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
zuuuuu: So it's like I still hear Gaara whenever he's in a mood. But yeah,
Scotty: Is that the red head from Naruto?
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: Okay. Okay, cool.
zuuuuu: The sand demon.
Jeff Randle: The first tail beast that we meet.
Scotty: okay.
zuuuuu: Oh yes. I need blood.
Jeff Randle: Desert coffin.
zuuuuu: Sand burial.
Jeff Randle: yeah Yep. Yep.
zuuuuu: Yeah, so whenever he goes broody, it's like, yep, that's just 1000 % Gara. I can't unhear it and I love every bit of it. Especially when he does cuss.
Jeff Randle: Just wait, wait till they get to, wait till we get the Mighty Nein. Cause then you're going to have German Gara.
zuuuuu: Okay.
zuuuuu: Oh, lovely.
Scotty: Oh, cool.
Jeff Randle: Cause he's very broody there too.
zuuuuu: But my favorite character, just in terms of the design and how it's written and just all of her incredible moments is Keyleth.
Scotty: Hmm.
zuuuuu: Whenever she has a funny take, it's incredible. Whenever things you know hit her in the feels, it's always incredible. There's a lot of stuff where it's like in this season, especially where she feels like nobody has her back and like her delivery and just all the stuff of feeling alone, but still needing to.
zuuuuu: do what the team needs is just always so wonderfully portrayed and then she's just such an absolute badass on top of that too like for someone to have as low confidence as she does and still be able to deliver for the sake of her team like I absolutely adore her.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, the way that she handled the the ah ah specters in the first season, like, I don't think I can do daylight, but then like, she obliterates them all, or at least allows the team to obliterate them all.
Jeff Randle: But just like, completely whiting out the the keep like, from an early point, she has been that like, low confidence, high badassery character.
zuuuuu: Bye!
Scotty: Well, let's let's just kind of start talking about season three then. And I do think Keyleth is kind of like the perfect introductory character to do that because she got so much development in those first couple of episodes especially.
Scotty: So the romance between she and Vex, that's that's really put to a forefront here with the the cliffhanger we left off of with the conclusion of last season, this Raishan character.
Jeff Randle: Raishan.
zuuuuu: Wish on.
Scotty: Yeah, Raishan, the deceiver.
Jeff Randle: Raishan the deceiver.
Scotty: And you know to your credit, Keyleth is the only one, they're all suspicious of her, but Keyleth is really the one that's kind of like dead set against her.
zuuuuu: Hell no.
Jeff Randle: yeah
Scotty: Yeah, which kind of initiates her going off on her own to contemplate things which Vax pursues her and they share a tender moment, which he gets
zuuuuu: Yeah they do.
Jeff Randle: Giggity. Sorry.
Scotty: That's not what I was going to say. He gets seemingly visions of the future in which I got vibes from like Lord of the Rings, the return of the King, where Arwen was like imagining her.
Scotty: I can't remember if it was Aragorn or Arwen, but they were basically imagining their future after he had long died and passed away.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: And she, you know, being an immortal being would have to Have that grief forever. I definitely got those kind of vibes and I don't know a lot about the Ashari in the context of Dungeons and Dragons, but I get the sense that they're a very very long -lived species if not immortal potentially I See okay gotcha.
Jeff Randle: Well, the the Ashari are a like the name of the tribe. They're the race that she is, is half elf.
zuuuuu: I think she's full health and the twins are half, right?
Jeff Randle: Or she's either half elf or full elven.
Scotty: Oh Okay, okay
Jeff Randle: but like
Scotty: I think that's right.
Jeff Randle: The twins are half and she's either half or full elf. I cannot remember exactly, but the like when you become the leader of the Ashari, you you were given you know all kinds of extra stuff and rituals are done and like you are long lived because of that.
Scotty: I did look it up. She's a half elf druid.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
Scotty: Yes. Okay.
zuuuuu: And she's going through the trials to be the the top dog of her tribe, right?
Scotty: Her Aromante.
Jeff Randle: Right.
Jeff Randle: Aramente.
Scotty: Yeah, Aromante, sorry, I think I did that last time too.
zuuuuu: I dig it, I dig it.
Jeff Randle: Yes.
zuuuuu: It's not.
zuuuuu: Did they make it clear why Vax doesn't want to tell everybody about the visions and the matron and all the stuff that's tripping them up right now?
zuuuuu: like
Jeff Randle: uh it's he's a lonely loner on his loner path has to handle everything himself he's a lone wolf except always with his sister yeah no he he he's always like he was like that in the campaign too it was uh like i don't really feel like i need to tell everybody everything so i'm just gonna keep this to myself
zuuuuu: Like... Gara. but
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: Hmm, not a fan. She deserves better.
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Kiki deserves better.
Scotty: She does.
Jeff Randle: The Sudden Tree talks to her.
Scotty: She does. Yeah.
Scotty: Well, that essentially initiates, you know, despite her misgivings, we have the group decide to trust Raishan anyway, right? Uh, I struggling to remember exactly how that came to be.
Scotty: Was it after they, they went and tried to get the vestige on their own and realized what a, a threat Vorugal was going to be? Is that right?
Jeff Randle: No, that was it was that they went to Thordak's lava pit, basically, his lair, and they saw all of the the eggs that he was, I don't want to say brooding, but that he was nursing and and watching over and that were going to hatch and like, oh, Raishan was telling the truth.
Scotty: Okay.
Scotty: Oh, it's layer. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
zuuuuu: Breeding?
Scotty: Sure.
Jeff Randle: This is going to be bad.
Scotty: Yeah. Okay.
zuuuuu: Yeah.
Scotty: That's what it was.
Jeff Randle: This is going to be real bad.
Scotty: Okay. Yeah, yeah. So coming off the heels of the the last season, the threat continues. The major threat is the Chroma Conclave, even though we've eliminated few of those dragons as well as the, ah two of them so far, as well as, yeah, the collection of the vestiges in order to combat them.
Jeff Randle: Two of five.
Scotty: So I think that's that's kind of what initiates those first couple of episodes is the pursuit of the Dawn Martyr.
Jeff Randle: The plate of the Dawn Martyr.
zuuuuu: hu
Scotty: Okay, cool, cool.
zuuuuu: Yeah, it was a crazy start to the season two because they were just like, yeah, let's just get right into this and not tell you that it's non linear timeline. So it's like, for us to be in there by himself and rock his badass wings and try to get out of there.
Scotty: Yeah, that's true.
zuuuuu: It's like, all right, now, and then go back to like, oh, there was a plan. This isn't just random.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
zuuuuu: This is such a such an incredible opener, especially because like I have the the hue lights and everything.
Jeff Randle: He does.
zuuuuu: And that's just one of those shows that are just great to watch it with. So it's like my whole room just like looking like a lava pit was just super cool.
Jeff Randle: Oh, man.
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: I'm so jealous of that.
Scotty: yeah And if I'm not mistaken, I think it's still Lance Reddick voicing Thordak.
zuuuuu: Mm hmm.
Scotty: Yeah. Okay. So that's right.
zuuuuu: Yep. Episode one was the episode dedicated to Lance.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
Scotty: That's right. Yeah. So sadly he has passed, but I'll be curious to see ah ah as the season goes on, uh, how much he contributes because, uh, yeah, i'm I'm trying to think, did Thordak show up in any of the subsequent episodes?
Scotty: I think Virgo kind of like steps up into the scene.
zuuuuu: I think his lava hologram comes up in a couple of my children moments.
Jeff Randle: is Lavagram.
Scotty: a la Palpatine. Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
Scotty: Oh, yeah, that's right.
Jeff Randle: Everything has transpired according to my desire.
Scotty: That's, that's
Scotty: Yeah, you're right because they do have that kind of like committee amongst them where I I can't remember see this. This is what's unfortunate I wish I was I wish I was sharper on some of these earlier episodes But I remember there being like obvious conflict between Raishan and Thordak even though she was like there amongst them It was clear that there was suspicion Around her like he he charged her is like if you don't kill Vox Machina Either they die or you die first make your choice
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, and like she was she was very much like, you said you were gonna fix this. You said you were gonna fix my face, but you're not fixing my face.
Scotty: Right.
Jeff Randle: And his his mind is a little tainted by the giant gem lodged in his chest.
Scotty: Sure.
Jeff Randle: region Yeah, he's he's effectively on amphetamines just constantly Yeah, oh god
zuuuuu: because it said it basically like amplifies like his anger and lack of judgment and it's just like the emotions are basically just through the roof with him.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: It's all or nothing.
Scotty: Okay.
zuuuuu: That explains all those eggs at once.
Scotty: Yeah that tracks, that tracks.
Scotty: Yeah, and I guess just to provide the full contact context of the relationship between Raishan and Thordak, she freed him from the fire plane where he was imprisoned with the promise that he would heal her her curse, her plague that she's inflicted with.
zuuuuu: oh
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: And he basically reneged on that. So yeah, they she has great a lot of cause to have ah have beef with him and side with Vox Machina.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, absolutely.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: Yeah, the only story point we really didn't get from the first episode is the Scanlan leaving to find Kaylee, which, he's a daddy.
Jeff Randle: And uh,
Scotty: Okay.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: One thing I just want to share from last season, the whole thing where he was like, oh yeah, I would never forget her. I knew you right away from her eyes. And all these moments that we had in this match, she was like, that's not my mom.
Jeff Randle: That's not my mom.
zuuuuu: Oh. which was
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: yeah
zuuuuu: but a piece of shit. I know that's kind of the the amount of character development over the last two seasons has truly been incredible.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
zuuuuu: And that is part of just kind of the ongoing dialogue of him of just him knowing that he is a piece of shit and trying to find ways to rectify it and be better for I mean, it's like he's trying to be a better person.
zuuuuu: But because he keeps derailing for his daughter, he's like putting the team at more risk. because he's just not there for moments that he needs to be there for. So it's like, yeah, you got it kind of need to balance out those priorities over there a little bit, my guy.
Jeff Randle: Great.
Jeff Randle: My guy I love that they they went back to the spice thing though with the one random guy like Spice you spice and it's just get the fuck out of here I Was I was hopeful that they were gonna do something with that whole story cuz like it was so silly how that happened in in the campaign but like I They can't, they it would take like most of the season to go through like all of Ank 'Harel doing that.
Scotty: Yeah.
Scotty: Yeah.
Scotty: Hmm.
Jeff Randle: It just... it was ah ah It was a nice little Easter egg, but didn't need to be followed the same way. And that's that's one of the things that I'm noticing with season three is that there's so much like artistic license being taken with their own IP, because you know there was the way that it happened in the campaign.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: But they're like, yeah, those things are not as interesting as if we went this way. And like they crafted into a...
Scotty: Sure, sure.
zuuuuu: Funny how D and &D works.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, right? They crafted into a ah ah better story so far. Where like, i am I had been worried about Draconia and how they were going to get to Draconia.
Scotty: Well.
Jeff Randle: And turns out that it just kind of is where they put a portal to a hell. And why did they have to go to that hell? Well, because they're going there instead of the fire plane.
Jeff Randle: And why are they going there? Well, because there's a game of chance to be played there.
zuuuuu: Fuck it, why not?
Scotty: Well, and to your point, that's the great thing. We talked about it. I think more so with season two, like I think the show throughout its run has done a great job of giving every character their beats and their moments to shine. But season one was definitely Percy season. Season two I thought did a better job of giving everybody a little bit of love. And this one seems to be continuing that trend. We do have you know, Pike got her episode that episode with Xerxes was a great, you know, Faustian deal.
Jeff Randle: yeah
Scotty: Oh, that's the thing. Faustian deals seem to be such a through line with so I feel like every single member, whether it's a vestige or a demon or a weapon that's inhabited with the bloodlust of some ancient evil, they all have these Faustian deals that they're they're constantly You know negotiating it and bartering so you have pike she's effectively, you know when she went to hell the everlight told her you do this we're done and And sure enough the seeds of doubt have already been planted Xerxes doesn't seem like a good dude, but he doesn't seem all that bad He's a little bit relatable for being a overlord of hell Okay
Jeff Randle: Yeah. Yep.
Jeff Randle: Oh, man.
Jeff Randle: Oh, man. Oh, so that character of Xerxes Illarez is one of the players from Exandria Unlimited Calamity.
Scotty: o
Jeff Randle: Like, the the the actor who was him, Luis Carazo, or Luis Carazo, he
Scotty: Hmm.
Jeff Randle: he was He played that character, and then in those in that episode, he voiced that character as well.
Scotty: nice. Okay.
Jeff Randle: And Xerxes is like everything that he said about like you know working with a Betrayer God and and you know hoping that he can redeem him.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
Jeff Randle: Xerxes was a path of redemption paladin, like oath of redemption paladin.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: The oath of redemption path is like is is very much highlighted by I can save them.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: you know the the whole like Nobody is entirely bad. And he took that to like the next level as far as like when he found you know this hurt person who had a very interesting story of like you know your brother's your brothers betrayed you and locked you into this place because they loved their creations more than you and each other like they valued them more than you like more than the family that you came here with and then now he's the betrayer God
Jeff Randle: but he's the one that was locked away. And then it turns out that's actually as modious as Modellus, the Lord of Lies, the Great Deceiver, the Lord of the Ninth Level of Hell, you know, kind of a big deal guy, but he was locked away. And then so Xerxes healed him and brought him back and was like, you know, we can we can repair the damage, like we can get you back with your family. And he's just like,
Jeff Randle: No, I'm gonna destroy everything.
Scotty: Like you do.
zuuuuu: It's like yeah, I'm over that.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, and he's the reason that there is a section of of Exandria that is called the Shattered Teeth because there was a continent there, but now it's just some islands that are left after it was smashed.
Scotty: Wow.
Jeff Randle: It's intense. Like, Xerxes is such a big deal as in the timeline. And for him to show up like he did, where he did, was just... all is by that So it was very exciting. And I have a lot of noises to make about it.
zuuuuu: Yeah, the slagger of that man and just like his introduction and just like, hey, let's just play a game. But you guys have been through a lot. It was a really stressful walk to get to this area. Not big fans of hell. I get it. Let's just relax. You enjoy your comfy little seats over there. We're going to play a game and just have a good time as I emotionally destroy you. And just the dialogue between those two characters, I feel like we've talked a lot about with With like MCU shows and stuff where we got to the point where just dialogue was so important and the storytelling and the conversations were so important I didn't even care about like a finale needing to have like this great big action scene and With this over here the the whole dialogue of Pike even saying like would you want to bring your family back to this and actually getting back into his head after her stressing out so much and and then not knowing if Everlight was going to help out.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: Sure.
zuuuuu: there There was just there was so much of just me being on the edge of my seat as much as like Grog would have liked to have been too, but he was kind of tight bound to where I was just like, wow, this is dialogue heavy.
Jeff Randle: I got some plus chairs up in this bitch.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
zuuuuu: I love it. It's ah ah there's just so many facets of show that's coming up. And to still get to the point where Xerxes is like, yeah, go, you can go attack them now. It's fine.
Jeff Randle: Yeah. Kill everyone.
zuuuuu: It's like, get that out of this.
Jeff Randle: Leave her. Yup.
zuuuuu: And then we could see this like hell monster go up against a dragon like doesn't want to see that.
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Oh, yes.
Scotty: Well, I said it before, but this show does one of the best jobs of incorporating both 3D and 2D elements like in the same frame.
zuuuuu: but right but I'm putting money on it.
Jeff Randle: Yup.
Scotty: And I loved that fight. Like I felt like, don't get me wrong. I like the Godzilla Kong movies. They're okay. Like they're fun, like, you know, popcorn, but I was like, This is the Godzilla versus Kong.
Scotty: I want to see like the the hell demon was Kong and and Vorugal was obviously Godzilla. That was just so intense. All of the gore and brutality that you want and just want on destruction.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Scotty: And then Vox Machina is just kind of watching it go down really good.
Jeff Randle: Yep. That's, I mean, that's how it happened in in the campaign. They summoned Yank, who is a, in the campaign was a Goristro, which is from the abyss.
Scotty: OK.
Scotty: Oh, okay.
Jeff Randle: So, you know, horrible demon monster thing to just like, go fight that gigantic dragon.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
Jeff Randle: and then hoping they would kill each other and then they'd mop up the rest. And that scene, and oh, so freaking brutal. Like the, the, like ripping the tongue out of the dragon's freaking mouth was insane.
zuuuuu: Oh, yank looks cool.
Scotty: Oh, yeah.
zuuuuu: Oh my god.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: He's like, yeah, I've had enough of this.
Jeff Randle: Yeah. I'm done with your mouth.
Scotty: But Vorgel does end up being victorious in quite an epic way, but he does meet his demise in an equally epic way, having the tree just explode from within him.
zuuuuu: Oh, brutal.
Scotty: Oh, so satisfying.
Jeff Randle: Yup, yup. And then like, that was another point where Lance Reddick or Thordak showed up, because he saw that happen through the the stone and was just like, damn it, Vorugal.
Scotty: Sure.
zuuuuu: at One job.
Jeff Randle: You had one freaking job.
zuuuuu: You were in your element. You wear an ice wagon in a f freaking tundra.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, right? Like, it was cold there.
zuuuuu: What was your excuse? They're not even wearing coats.
zuuuuu: They came from the fiery pits of hell to sub -zero degrees and you still could have chased them down.
Jeff Randle: Right? Like they're dealing with like temperature shock and you still can't do anything.
Scotty: They were in hypothermic hypothermic shock laying there and you still couldn't get the job done.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Jeff Randle: What's your trip on a friggin twig? Break your own friggin neck.
zuuuuu: but
Jeff Randle: but Yep.
zuuuuu: More ironic and icicle.
zuuuuu: Just to icedalike my doom - oops.
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Whoops, it does like that. Like the hot fives, like it the hot fives, it really hurts.
zuuuuu: yeah
Scotty: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Oh, that would be so funny.
Scotty: Yeah.
zuuuuu: a
Jeff Randle: But no, instead it was brutal. It was super freaking brutal.
Scotty: Yes. Yes. I wanted to backtrack and I don't have a ah ah good segue other than the fact that we're talking about dragons and this character is somewhat dragon -like. But when we were back in Draconia, we had Allura and Kima's old compatriots, was it Dola?
Scotty: who ended up being, what a shit hill. I mean, you can just see it coming from a mile away, but he he betrays them and you know he he gets his just desserts.
Scotty: But the whole time I was seeing that character, I kept being reminded of, I don't know if how familiar either of you guys are with the Gargoyles animated series from Disney, but he looks very much like one of the Gargoyles.
Jeff Randle: does.
Scotty: Yes.
Jeff Randle: You're right, he does. Like which of the boroughs are you?
Scotty: Yeah.
Scotty: Who was he? I hate that I'm not being, I can't pull it off the top of my head. and
zuuuuu: I'm still trying to figure out which Vox Machina character we're talking about.
Jeff Randle: Brooklyn.
Jeff Randle: I did say Brooklyn.
Scotty: He was, oh yeah, Brooklyn, did you say that?
zuuuuu: How do you spell that?
Jeff Randle: The pink one?
Scotty: Okay, okay. Yes, yes.
Jeff Randle: yeah Yep. Yep, yep, yep. Very much look like Brooklyn.

Scotty: Okay. Well, uh, we've talked about a few of our members of Vox Machina and what they've been up to in season three, but, uh, you know, we talked about Keyleth and Vax's fledgling relationship.
Scotty: Will they, won't they? But the one that we've got a little bit more progress on was, uh, Percy and Vex. What do we think about that?
zuuuuu: That's how much more will they?
Jeff Randle: Brown chicken, brown, wow.
zuuuuu: It was an interesting transition watching season two and three together from Vax wanting Percy's head after Vax almost died for with how he got the the matron armor.
Scotty: Yeah.
Scotty: Sure.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
zuuuuu: So it it seemed like he was holding a grudge for a good chunk of that time too. So for him to finally back up a little bit, just be like, yeah, that makes you happy, but you know, I'm still gonna kill you if you get hurt again.
zuuuuu: it's like he did have to lighten up, but I don't think he's fully let go of that grudge again. And I'm worried something's going to happen. That's actually going to make backs go off on Percy.
zuuuuu: just a quick side thing, because we were talking about character development and stuff, it was funny how season one was so heavy on Percy season two, everybody else. And then they had to kind of bring in a plot to make Percy relevant again.
Scotty: No. Well, we'll get into that. I'm i'm sure you're talking about ah Ripley and the fact that she's inherited his penchant for weapon making, gun making specifically, as well as his ah his old buddy, Orthax.
zuuuuu: Yeah.
Jeff Randle: Orthax.
zuuuuu: Or Thax.
Scotty: Orthax, I add, and that was unnecessary. But going back to, i I love that you focused on Percy and Vax's relationship when we were talking about Percy and, no, no, I meant,
Jeff Randle: Vex. Oh, you did.
Scotty: i mean I'm at vax yeah yeah i am admit Vax because I love the the exchange and the hot tub where when they finally come to terms.
zuuuuu: Yeah, because I'm talking about the dialogue between them, yeah.
Jeff Randle: You did. Yep.
zuuuuu: Yeah.
Scotty: I think it Vax is the one that stands up and kind of, you know, his he's fully exposed there and he's like, there's not a thing between us.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
zuuuuu: He's just like, whoa. Sure is.
Jeff Randle: thought he would never leave. That was so funny.
Scotty: Mm -hmm.
Jeff Randle: the The Scanlan's mansion, or the the Chateau Shorthalt, if you will, was so great.
Scotty: Yes, so good.
Jeff Randle: I'm i'm glad that they incorporated that. Because that's like that's just a spell that you eventually get. is I think it's like Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion or something like that.
Scotty: Yeah.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: But it's just the mansion spell. And having him get it from a key makes more sense as far as like story -wise other than like, I got stronger and now I can cast bigger spells.
Jeff Randle: I don't know where I got it from, but here it is.
Scotty: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how long it would take for me to get tired of chicken. I mean, the Chateau short -haul seems pretty awesome. I think I could put up with chicken for quite a long time.
Jeff Randle: Yes, absolutely. 100%. Do you know how many ways you can have chicken?

Jeff Randle: like yeah There's so many.
Scotty: Yeah. at Chicken salad. Don't get me started. I'm going to sound like Bubba from Forrest Gump.

zuuuuu: But yes, that is one of the one of the relationships between Percy and Vex.
zuuuuu: That's just kind of like you see it coming, but the the payoff of it was really nice, too. And we kind of repeat the dialogue that we were talking about with Vax earlier with just kind of like how he's the broody, you know, lone wolf and this and that.
zuuuuu: So when Percy started being a wamp and wanting more and wanting titles in a relationship,
Scotty: Uh -huh.
zuuuuu: just kidding um she was just kind of like oh i thought we were just having fun it's like no no no you love him just accept it oh but so just the fact that this this show can hit so many tones and even when it comes to the romantic stuff it's just it's really really well done there were obviously you know i was I was worried that her distance that she was going to keep was going to be a little more problematic, but I think Percy ended up being mature enough in those regards to not let it get in the way with the situation at hand, where I feel like it was a little more with Keylep and Vax, Vax, Vax, Vax, Vax, Vax, Vax.
Scotty: Mm hmm.
Scotty: Yes, yeah, Vax, you got it.
zuuuuu: So yeah, all the of all the relationships that have developed within this group, and they need HR committee. think that that one is the strongest one with the most with the most payoff going off in the future.
Jeff Randle: That's fair.
Scotty: That is fair, especially when you mentioned the need for maybe like an HR representative because I hadn't really thought about it. I was focusing mainly on our two, you know, primary romances there, but there is an argument to be had for Scanlon and Pike.
Scotty: They're starting, you know, slowly but surely show some signs of affection for each other. So that really leaves Grog. Grog is the one that's not involved with anybody else.
zuuuuu: Yeah, he is with a sword. Got a really bad breakup.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: hu Oh my god.
Scotty: That's fair.
zuuuuu: He was, his heart was pretty shattered.
Scotty: Yeah. Yeah. That's fair.
Jeff Randle: As was his body.
Scotty: yeah
zuuuuu: Oh my God. My muscles.
Jeff Randle: worship
zuuuuu: Buddies?
Scotty: That's fair.
zuuuuu: Where's my muscles go? Can you bring them back, please?
Scotty: My muscles. Is that the true source of my strength?
Scotty: Well, Zuhari, you kind of made the comment that you felt like they kind of had, and forgive me if I'm, you know, inserting words where I shouldn't be, but I got the sense that you felt like they kind of shoehorned in a plot for Percy a little bit, just to give him kind of something to do.
Scotty: But that whole plot line by the end of episode six ended up being like a pretty major through line with, you know, the revelation that Ripley was the one that sold out white stone.
zuuuuu: Yeah.
Scotty: White stone has been laid to waste and, Yeah, I had something else to say.
zuuuuu: Yeah, I think it was more of what I was getting at with that was because season.
Jeff Randle: Yeah.
zuuuuu: It's like season one and two had a lot of character development. You know a lot about their past now. You know a lot about how they got where they're at. And then you've seen growth from there as well.
zuuuuu: So with season one being so Percy heavy and season two being the rest of Vox Machina, like now everyone's on even playing field, we don't really need to have flashbacks and hidden motives and all that stuff.
Scotty: Yeah, sure.
Scotty: True.
zuuuuu: It's like, we know everything that we need to know about these characters and it's nice that we can just bring up things and just kind of go into those storylines. and just let everything be forward moving from here on out unless new characters get introduced as part of the team.
Jeff Randle: yeah Dissolution.

Scotty: Yeah, I hear you and and that makes a lot of sense and I agree with that. I did recall the other thing I wanted to say as as far as the fallout that occurs between, you know, Percy and Ripley. The major thing that happened with episode six is that that eventually leads to the dissolution.
Scotty: disillusion Dissolvement. That's the word I'm looking for.
zuuuuu: Okay.
Scotty: the dissolved Yeah, dissolution dissolve but dissolve that was the word I was looking for the dissolve bit of the partnership with Raishan because they're basically all like, you know Against her and even with the revelation that it it was in fact Ripley.

Scotty: They don't really care. They're done with her Yeah
Jeff Randle: Yeah. The enemy of my enemy is still my freaking enemy.

Jeff Randle: Super cool for for Vax, but the the wielder before Vax was someone fairly important to him, who was then caused to turn on him.
Scotty: Yeah.

Jeff Randle: Yep. I don't know if they're gonna go that route. I don't know if they're gonna go that route.
zuuuuu: That's a super in Destiny 2 right now.
Jeff Randle: So what?

Jeff Randle: And that's part of why they summoned the Garistro to the dragon. It was like a two for one deal, like kill the dragon. pull, you know, when when the grister's also dead, pull it apart and find, oh look, Spire of Conflux right there.
Scotty: Okay.
Jeff Randle: Now Kiki has a ah vestige as well, yay. But they haven't done that. So don't know how she's gonna get her awesome staff.
zuuuuu: which she does have a vestige.
Jeff Randle: I'm looking forward to it though.
Scotty: Hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I obviously have zero context. So I'm just kind of like pure speculation here, but it would be kind of cool if they had some reason to have to go back to, uh, Vorgals corpse and having that tree that bloomed out of him.
Scotty: Maybe that's the source of her new staff or something like that.
Jeff Randle: Oh, the that could be, that could be good.
Scotty: That be could be kind of cool.
zuuuuu: Hmm.
Jeff Randle: Well, like, historically, the Spire of Conflux was supposed to be a staff, like, you know, staff of power that's passed down from a Shari leader to a Shari leader at through the ages.
Scotty: Sure.
Jeff Randle: But then some Shari leader died to this demon and the staff was taken, eaten, basically.
zuuuuu: This fire lay within the stomach of a goristro named Yank, who devoured the staff along with its wielder.
Scotty: Oh.
Jeff Randle: Yep.
Jeff Randle: Yep, yep.
Scotty: So Yank said yoink.
Jeff Randle: He said, nah.
zuuuuu: Oh, I worry about where Keyleth is gonna have to pull that out from.
Jeff Randle: Ouch.
Jeff Randle: Yeah, it gets gross, but.

Jeff Randle: you know, I don't like it. But like, they, I don't think that they covered when they talked to Sisa, or rather when Mythcarver was procured.
Jeff Randle: I don't think they they talked about where everything is like where like the spire of conflicts or where whisper are.
zuuuuu: because it got rudely interrupted by that dragon which kicked off a great sphinx dragon fight but there wasn't too much to really talk about the the items in that moment rip

Jeff Randle: Yeah, it's unfortunate. But he has myth carver now. So they can find it.
zuuuuu: more people have used it than he has this season
Jeff Randle: Maybe.
Scotty: Is that how myth carve it carver carver works whatever you Seek it shows you because I mean, I think it's been revealed that it could show people potentially does it show items as well?
Jeff Randle: That's a good question.
zuuuuu: When the dragon had it, that's how he found the other vestiges, right? Like he was looking for the actual items.
Scotty: Was it? Okay. Okay. Now that stands to reason. I'm sure they share some kind of connection at the very least.

You know, they've kind of emerged in season three as like pretty solid secondary characters, but Allura and Kima, like that episode that Forgo finally meets his demise. They get, you know, a lot of focus in terms of their relationship and their give and take throughout, you know, the years of knowing each other. But Kima does get that moment. She's the one that takes Smith Carver and has her moment, you know, to deliver that but ah that below that sets up Keyleth for the yeah

Scotty: interact with that and move past it rather than just a static shot. It's those little flourishes that make this show so, so good.

Jeff Randle: And like the way that they can provide a visual of this like gigantic lava -riddled hellscape, and that's not the most interesting thing.

The the most interesting thing is uh is Vax doing his like uh his hell dive basically like his he's he's he's base jumping from the top of a broom and like that little black streak in the middle of it is just like oh my god oh my god it's so much there's tension he's gonna ah your wings Vax like i ah ah this show gets me so excited
